During the coating process, we apply a thin and uniform layer of polymeric material onto a textile support to achieve a product with properties and characteristics tailored to the customer’s project.

Material
Preparation

The material to be coated is prepared in liquid or semi-liquid form, with a specific mixture ensuring certain properties in the final product, such as impermeability, fire resistance, abrasion, and UV protection. Special machines for dosing, kneading, and refining assist in creating these compounds. Following quality controls, they proceed to the coating machines.

Development
RELEASE PAPER

The release paper, typically made of PVC or PU, is prepared as the substrate onto which the liquid material will be spread. It imparts a specific texture to the finished material.

Material
Application

The coating material is applied onto the release paper, guaranteeing proper application using rollers and scrapers. SPAC systems can accommodate up to 6 material application stations in a single process. SPAC systems can have up to 6 material application stations in a single process.

Drying

The material is dried in the plant ovens to remove solvents or moisture and facilitate solidification.

Coupling

If the finished product requires it, a textile support is coupled to the material.

Cooling

Before separating it from the release paper, the product obtained is cooled.

Quality control

Throughout the process, quality controls are carried out to ensure the product meets desired characteristics and standards.

Refining

After coating, the product can be subjected to additional finishing operations to enhance its properties and appearance. These can include embossing, printing, applying finish, and other processes.

Embossing

Embossing is a process that is carried out when the material requires a deeper and more defined engraving of the surface design. A tactile effect in relief that gives the material greater three-dimensionality.

Printing

During the printing phase, special surface effects like two-tone or clouds are added. Additionally, the flocking process gives a soft and velvety coat to the finished product.

Digital printing

Custom graphics are created using direct digital printing with eco-friendly inks on polymeric supports. Alternatively, they can be produced indirectly through a sublimation process using water-based inks.

Textile treatment

The material may undergo various treatments according to the final design requirements. Resin coating renders the fabric waterproof, while thermosetting stabilizes fabrics to prevent deformation with temperature changes or loss of physical characteristics. Additionally, anti-pilling treatment prevents lint formation.

Multiple processes, including grinding, lamination, finishing, and embossing, can be performed on the same product. Through lamination, additional materials such as decorative, metallic, thermo-film or self-adhesive sheets are coupled to our coatings. Grinding imparts a rougher and “lived-in” appearance to the material.
